NITTTR, Chandigarh has been offering faculty training programmes in a wide variety
of areas since its inception in 1967. The programmes are either conducted at the
institute or in the technical institutions in the northern region. MHRD, Govt.of India
has given a mandate to the institute to train 20,000 teachers through Induction
Training Programmes in order to improve quality of technical education. The institute
decided to exploit the potential of ICT in teacher training and thus achieving the target
of training assigned to it. Technology has provided the platform to offer the programme at
multiple locations through video conferencing. A series of programmes have been planned
during the next six months.

The programme objectives are to enable the participating teachers to:
- Understand the quality issues in technical education and the role of teachers
- Understand the process of curriculum development and implementation
- Understand the process of instructional planning and delivery
- Understand the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of selected instructional methods
- Understand the need, principles and process of e-content generation & distribution
- Understand the process of setting reliable and valid question papers
- Understand the principles of effective oral communication
- Understand the strategies for developing creativity and innovations
- Understand the characteristics of entrepreneurs and strategies for developing entrepreneurial qualities
- Know the need and procedure of accreditation
- Know the schemes of Community Development through Polytechnics, Mainstreaming Person with Disabilities in technical education and NVEQF
- Understand the process of writing research proposals and papers
- Understand the environmental related issues
- Understand the management skills required for effective management of departments/ institutions

MODALITIES OF OFFERING THE PROGRAMME

- Networked institution through video conferencing
- Institution based programme using video recordings of expert lectures and live interaction
TA/DA and working lunch facility will be extended to technical teachers from Govt./Govt. Aided and Self Financed institutions of northern region.

REQUIREMENTS FOR VIDEO CONFERENCING
The requirements for networking for video conferencing are::
- TCP ports to be opened Range 60000-64999
- UDP ports to be opened Range 60000-64999
- TCP 1720 to be opened
- H 239 to be enabled
- H 323 to be enabled
Pl talk to your service provider for the same these are to be done by the service provider.
- We need a cabling from your gate way (server) to the place ( Seminar room) of training without having any router, switches and firewall or any securities in between.
- A LCD projector having HDMI input ( incase you do not have this we shall be taking a converter so you have to provide a normal LCD (vga) projector).
- We need 1 mbps real IP based dedicated bandwidth during the period ( 30 Oct to 3 Nov)
- The bandwidth should not be shared. We need ampli speaker for the audience to listen and a good seminar room with proper lighting facilities.
- We shall be taking our video conferencing equipment.
FOR INTERACTION THROUGH GOOGLE HANGOUT:
- A laptop with inbuilt web camera
- An external speaker (good quality) to listen
- An external mike to speak
- A good quality LCD projector to see in big screen.
- A good seminar room with proper lighting facilities.
- We prefer to have a web cam with inbuilt mic properly installed in your desktop for a better interaction (This is in place of laptop)
- Dedicated bandwidth of 500 kbps for Google hangout
We expect the institute to have both so that we provide both the transmission for the participants to have interruption link.
Important: A good bandwidth is the main requirement for quality transmission. LCD projector, speaker, mike and web cam are the local requirements.
Lectures shall be delivered mainly from NITTTR, Chandigarh and participants will have interaction through video conferencing mode.
The lectures can be seen off line and can be downloaded from the YouTube.
